L’equilibrio delle acque nel paesaggio agrario della pianura lombarda: ragioni di uno sguardo retrospettivo al XIX secolo

Propongo una riflessione sulle caratteristiche essenziali del paesaggio agrario e dell’habitat rurale dell’alta e bassa pianura lombarda in due fasi: paesaggio e habitat rurale dell’unità pre-nazionale, mutata in pochi decenni; gli sconvolgimenti verificatisi negli ultimi decenni del Novecento, in particolare dagli anni ottanta-novanta ad oggi. Mi concentro sul tema del sistema idrico, anche se non esclusivamente. Confronto in particolare la forma mentis dell’ottocentesco Carlo Cattaneo con lo studioso Vittorio Sereni, che ha lasciato contributi tuttora insuperati sulla storia del paesaggio rurale. Nel variegato paesaggio lombardo, il drammatico utilizzo del suolo, in crescita esponenziale negli ultimi decenni, ha stravolto il tradizionale rapporto tra città e campagna e ha provocato squilibri nel regime idrico: fenomeni che esamino e mostro nel contesto di alcuni esempi, comprese le campagne fotografiche in elicottero.

The balance of water in the agricultural landscape of the Lombard plain: reasons for a retrospective look at the nineteenth century

I propose a reflection on the essential features of the agricultural landscape and of the rural habitat of high and low plains of Lombardy in two stages: landscape and rural habitat of the pre-national unification, who changed in a few decades; the upheavals wich occurred over the last decades of the twentieth century, especially from the eighties-nineties to the present. I focus on the point of view of the water system, although not exclusively. I compare in particular the mindset of the nineteenth century Carlo Cattaneo with the scholar Vittorio Sereni, who has left unsurpassed contributions on the history of the rural landscape. In the varied landscape of Lombardy, the dramatic use of land, in exponential growth in recent decades, has distorted the traditional relationship between town and country and has caused imbalances in the water regime: phenomena that I examine and show in the context of some examples, including photographic campaigns by helicopter.
