Le reliquie dei santi

L’ampio e documentato excursus storico proposto nel saggio sul tema delle reliquie consente di coglierne l’imprescindibilità e l’attualità in ambito liturgico in contesto cattolico, conquistate in un iter costellato di graduali consapevolezze, non senza errori e parziali deviazioni. Le due nozioni di sacro e santo, di non facile assimilazione nella cultura contemporanea, sono qui articolate attorno al tema della materialità dei resti corporei venerati e connesse in una reciproca corrispondenza affermata già nella titolazione nell’enciclica Sacrosanctum, documento del Concilio Vaticano II che tratta della riforma e della promozione della liturgia nella Chiesa cattolica. Il saggio si propone pertanto come autorevole riferimento alla documentazione di cura e valorizzazione attuale delle reliquie documentate in questa rivista.

The relics of the saints

The broad and well-documented historical survey offered in the essay on the theme of relics makes it possible to grasp both their indispensability and their continued relevance within Catholic liturgical practice, achieved through a process marked by gradual awareness, not without errors and partial deviations. The two notions of the sacred and the holy—concepts not easily assimilated within contemporary culture—are here articulated around the materiality of venerated bodily remains and connected through a reciprocal correspondence already affirmed in the very title of the encyclical Sacrosanctum, a document of the Second Vatican Council addressing the reform and promotion of the liturgy in the Catholic Church. The essay therefore presents itself as an authoritative reference for the documentation of the current care and enhancement of the relics discussed in this journal.
