Per l’archiviazione, la conservazione preventiva, il restauro e la valorizzazione della fotografia storica

Il saggio si propone di introdurre alle problematiche che ruotano attorno agli archivi fotografici, specie quelli di enti pubblici, ma non solo, a partire dall’inquadramento legislativo della fotografia come bene culturale. Dalla necessità di considerare i materiali fotografici come opere d’arte da tutelare discendono tutti quei problemi di archiviazione, conservazione preventiva, restauro e valorizzazione che sono al centro del dibattito che si tenta di sollecitare. Soprattutto gli autori del saggio auspicano l’introduzione di sistemi di schedatura più agili e funzionali che possano consentire un dialogo fra le istituzioni con la costituzione di archivi informatizzati e virtualmente consultabili, quale servizio migliorato per il pubblico. Nella seconda parte del saggio vengono illustrate, più nello specifico, le caratteristiche “fisiche” delle fotografie, la complessità e l’eterogeneità dei materiali fotografici che si possono trovare in un archivio e come affrontarne le fasi conservative, di digitalizzazione e di valorizzazione, condizioni essenziali alla fruizione di un Bene Culturale.

For the filling, the preventive conservation, the restorantion and the development of the historical photography

The essay intends to initiate the issues about photographic archives (especially the archives of the public body) beginning from the legislative classification of the photography as cultural heritage. All the problems of registration, precautionary preservation, restoration and enhancement, that are the heart of the debate that we try to press, come from the need to consider the photographic files as works of art to be preserved. Quicker and more functional filing systems should hopefully be introduced that may facilitate a dialogue among the offices with the establishment of computerized archives that can be virtually consulted, as a better service for the public. The second part of the essay details the “ physical” features of photographs and the complexity and heterogeneity of photographic files that one can find in an archive and how to deal with the conservative, enhancing and digitizing phases, essential terms to benefit from Cultural Heritage.
