Il contributo all’architettura moderna di Antoni Gaudì

Le architetture di Gaudì sono state definitivamente accolte dalla storiografia contemporanea come pienamente moderne. Il grande architetto catalano è infatti ritenuto uno dei maestri moderni, attivi tra seconda metà del XIX secolo e inizio XX. Suo tema progettuale di grande importanza è il rapporto tra geometria e simbolo; ognuna delle sue architetture lo mette in evidenza. Si può ritenere che le invenzioni di statica e di forma di Gaudì prendono avvio a partire dal legame tra geometria e simbolo, costante in tutta la sua ricerca. Questo significa che dalla saldatura in unità, dei due termini del secondo binomio, dipende l’unità del primo, cioè l’unità della struttura portante con la forma finale, in una bellezza varia e colorata, tuttora capace di suscitare stupore. Molte novità si nascondono ancora nell’architettura di Gaudì e sono in attesa di nuovi esploratori.

Antoni Gaudi’s contribution to the modern architecture

Gaudi’s architecture works have been finally accepted as fully modern by the contemporary historiography. The great Catalan architect is in fact considered one of the modern masters, active between the late nineteenth century and early twentieth. His most important design theme is the relationship between geometry and symbol; each of his architecture highlights this. We can evaluate that Gaudi’s static and formal inventions start from the link between geometry and symbol, constant in all his research. This means that the unity of the first pair, in a varied and colorful beauty still able to inspire awe, depends from the weld of the two terms of the second pair. Many innovations are still hidden in the Gaudì’s architecture and are waiting for new explorers.
